- theothertimcook 1y agoIt doesn’t, it just allows people who otherwise wouldn’t be able to take on a massive mortgage to do just that. Housing in Australia is cooked, tax settings and lack of oversight mean it’s basically an investment product that people can live in. Any policy to reign in the silliness would crash the economy and smash a significant number of paper millionaires. Imagine one of the geographically largest county on the planet having a “housing crisis” because investors need their interests protected.
