I don't like long names because it's much harder to differentiate the following: someone_else_just_finished_writing?(document) someone_else.just_finished_writing?(document) Especially when using underscores, it's too easy to miss a period or a subtraction. And when you have several lines using such long names, it becomes a wall of text and have you to read everything out loud to understand what's happening.
