How else is it supposed to work?
> Some sick people are already depressed and feel like a burden we shouldn't put ideas in their heads.
You sound like you think there isn't an entire system of checks and balances around this but, of course, there is.
- arduanika 1y ago> How else is it supposed to work? Like literally any other good or service.
- wvenable 1y agoI think it's best that we keep any profit motive out of this. It certainly doesn't work for health care.
- arduanika 1y agoThis is not health care. Not in any sense that Hippocrates would cosign.
- wvenable 1y agoWe consider it health care for our pets.
- greygoo222 1y agoHippocrates didn't actually write the Hippocratic Oath, which, if this matters to you, also forbids abortion.
- arduanika 1y agoYou are technically correct, sir. I guess that out of shame I should just go seek Canadian healthcare. On abortion -- that matters to a lot of people, and it's an outrage that they are forcibly taxed to pay for something they see as murder.
- BobaFloutist 1y agoThat really depends on how you define "harm", doesn't it?
- arduanika 1y agoThere's more in the oath than "do no harm". But if you want to just forget about the ancients, I can't stop you. Par for the course in a culture that wants to pull the plug on grandma.
- tremon 1y agoSo... like sewage service, or the fire department?
- macinjosh 1y agoPeople pay for the $5 pill themselves or find a tall, tall bridge.
- johnnienaked 1y ago>how else is it supposed to work? Just kill yourself the old fashioned way?
