We have a $37 trillion dollar deficit. I think traditional government isn’t working and we need to find ways to raise revenue sooner rather than later before this spirals out of control.
- throwaway173738 1y agoWe could raise corporate taxes. That would raise a lot of revenue.
- ChrisLTD 1y agoWe have taxes, but the current governing coalition is opposed to raising them.
- petralithic 1y agoTariffs are taxes, they are not opposed to raising them, they just won't call them "taxes." It's honestly remarkable how effective they are in reaching their policy goals, because they understand their voter base extremely clearly. They know that their voters largely go off of key words, so by changing those words, one can make them support whatever policy one wants. It is amazing to witness, really.
