Haven't tried it myself, but from what I've seen it's pretty common for folks whose hormone levels are "in range" to report good results from HRT. I tend to think of "in range" as meaning "this doesn't indicate you're obviously-unwell". There's also a bunch of expensive-to-run tests which aren't included in an annual physical unless indicated by symptoms.
