Parents are absolutely giving children devices with unfiltered internet access. I think people here need to step out of their ivory tower. I would say most people don't even know to think about the things people here think about. "Unknowns unknowns", if you will. We all agree here that this is a bad idea. What percentage of the worlds population do you think reads Hacker News?
- AlienRobot 1y agoIf you're going to say that, I think most people wouldn't even access websites to begin with. They spend most of their time on Youtube, Instagram, and TikTok. I know people who don't know how to use Google because they only use a smartphone to browse scroll Instagram and Facebook. They're never going to access a website.
- esseph 1y agoLarge companies have dozens or hundreds (even thousands) of their own internal websites, plus tons of SaaS for HR, tax, benefits, etc. People use "websites" all the fucking time.
- _Algernon_ 1y agoRegulate the parents then. You don't strip search every customer in your store because one person shoplifted.
