The problem with failing closed is that you end up 20 years later still not supporting emoji from 20 years ago and users get annoyed...
- JimDabell 1y agoThat’s a problem that can happen if you don’t perform any maintenance for 20 years, and the outcome is mild annoyance from a small fraction of users. The problem with failing open can manifest tomorrow, and the outcome can cause your site to become unreadable.
