- stavros 1y agoThat's too bad, does anyone know why?
- apwell23 1y agoyes. because "no fun allowed" is not very attractive.
- krapp 1y agoIt is to a certain kind of personality. Hacker News is very much "no fun allowed" and people here seem like it.
- apwell23 1y agoyes exactly. thats why hackernews is niche.
- skinnymuch 1y agoIn a recent post about todo apps almost all the comments use plain text. Hacker News is niche and tiny.
- mpalmer 1y agoWhat is it you'd like to be posting that you think you aren't allowed to?
- Sohcahtoa82 1y agoI see plenty of "fun" on Blue Sky. What "fun" is not allowed? Be explicit.

- Sammi 1y agoTry posting anything about AI or LLMs. You will be inundated with people deriding you for even looking at it. The only accepted opinion on bsky is "ai bad, mkay". The doomerism is suffocating.
- Sohcahtoa82 1y agoPeople disagreeing with you is not the same as something not being allowed.
- Sammi 1y agoI haven't posted anything about ai on bsky. There are overwhelmingly many negative comments on any post on bsky that does discuss ai. There's so much "correct think" like that on bsky. No fun allowed. Only "correct" opinions.
- Sohcahtoa82 1y agoAgain, just because someone's opinions go against the hive mind bsky doesn't mean it's not allowed. Will an account get suspended/banned because of their views on AI? No. Therefore, still allowed.
- chabes 1y agoNot surprised that someone who loves the sycophant machine thinks that someone disagreeing with them means they’re being oppressed
- taco_emoji 1y agoThat's a 12 week window though. Foolish to use that as a long-term viability measure. I'd be willing to wager usage could come up again as the U.S. midterms ramp up in 2026.
- ilikehurdles 1y agoThey’ve been bleeding users for nearly a year. https://bsky.jazco.dev/stats https://bsky.jazco.dev/stats
- taco_emoji 1y ago2024-08-21 they had 156,328 unique posters, 2025-08-2021 they had 669,909. So "nearly" a year is cherry-picking. Whatever "bleeding" is happening* is after some enormous growth. I'm not a booster at all, they ought to be concerned about this recent depletion, but this slow decline is hardly the death knell. *: edited from "has happened"
- ManlyBread 1y agoI'll buy that narrative if you can demonstrate that an another big service lost 11.5% users in the last three months.
- taco_emoji 1y agoDemonstrate to me that your opinion is valuable and maybe I'll consider it
