Trump says U.S. will not approve solar or wind power projects
- rogerkirkness 1y ago“The days of stupidity are over in the USA!!!” - Trump in relation to this announcement. Lol.
- duxup 1y ago> farmer destroying Solar Wat the weird-o theory is that about? I swear it's just policy by corruption and/or whatever came across this guy's twitter feed.
- goyagoji 1y agoPlants are growing at a faster rate than ever now that we are having trouble breathing.
- jfengel 1y agoIn theory, developers are buying up farmland and covering it with solar panels. In practice, rural areas tend to be Republican, and routinely object to things that Democrats want just because they want it. I have no idea if even a single farmer has actually been kicked out in favor of solar panels.
- bediger4000 1y agoWow, why not let the market decide? Why isn't the media demanding more explanation of why the free market is being prohibited from functioning?
- throwawaysleep 1y agoIt is largely futile to try.
- bediger4000 1y agoThe benefit of "freedom of the press" are largely lost on me. What good are the media if they can't follow up on this stuff?
- floxy 1y agoThis seems like it affects projects that need federal permitting? What solar/wind installations need federal permitting? Those on U.S. government land? Offshore wind? Does anyone know what percentage of solar / wind project have a federal governmental permitting requirement?
- belter 1y agoA few years ago this headline would be the title of a South Park episode...And now it's reality....
- bix6 1y agoWorst president ever and people somehow cheer him on
- labrador 1y agoAnyone who has road tripped around the United States knows that it is mostly empty with vast tracts of unused land. The idea that solar is wasting valuable land is one of the stupidest ideas Trump has ever had. But we know he is being disengenuous. Before the election he invited oil company executives and owners to Mara Lago and told them if they donated to his reelection he would make it worth their while. "Trump pressed oil executives to give $1 billion for his campaign, people in industry say "This is a scandal" and "an indictment of the system" — but probably legal, one legal watchdog told POLITICO." https://www.politico.com/news/2024/05/09/trump-asks-oil-executives-campaign-finance-00157131 https://www.politico.com/news/2024/05/09/trump-asks-oil-exec...
- jleyank 1y agoSolar on the roof doesn’t take up much land nor affect the view much. But that would be fine grained thinking which is too much effort.
- m463 1y agoI kind of wonder if trump does this: 1) attack someone or something over-the-top 2) outrage 3) recants, but negotiation happens This pattern happened with: apple ceo, intel ceo, tariffs for country <x>
