I have run into frustrations with Markdown and even had a short "I do everything in RST" phase. At some point during that phase I tried org mode and it's better than both, it is easier to read/write than RST, and better for large documents than Markdown. Unfortunately it doesn't get accepted in as many places as Markdown.
