Did Biden call on people to “fight like hell” after losing an election? Did he blanket-pardon rioters who were convicted of violent crimes during the riot? Trump did. What rioters did Biden incite or pardon?

- nailer 1y agoYes there are many democrats who Dita’s misinformation and called for uprising during BLM and you can easily search this yourself.
- zzrrt 1y agoMany BLM protests took place before the Biden administration existed, so some of your thesis is non-sense. To rebut some of it: “Fact check: Quotes from Democratic leaders about riots, unrest taken out of context” https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2021/01/15/fact-check-quotes-democratic-leaders-riots-out-context/6588222002/ https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2021/01/15/fac... Even if some Democrats may have gone over the line with some statements, convicted rioters weren’t pardoned by Biden. Even if you might rightly criticize some Biden pardons, I doubt you can name many violent offenders who were pardoned. In contrast, Trump pardoned hundreds for violent crimes, even against police officers. https://www.npr.org/2025/01/21/nx-s1-5268919/trump-issues-jan-6-pardons-attack-capitol-clemency https://www.npr.org/2025/01/21/nx-s1-5268919/trump-issues-ja...
- nailer 1y ago> Many BLM protests took place before the Biden administration existed, so some of your thesis is non-sense. So it's partially true. > some Democrats may have gone over the line with some statement So you think it's true too. Glad we agree on what happened. > Trump pardoned hundreds for violent crimes, even against police officers. Yes, they were massively over sentenced. They deserved prison time for rioting in the capital, but not years.
- zzrrt 1y ago> So you think it's true too. Glad we agree on what happened. I don't agree. I said "may have", not "did". I was extending a little benefit of the doubt, but I regret it now that I see how little good faith you're offering. > They deserved prison time for rioting in the capital, but not years. Maybe I could be persuaded in some cases, if there was a thorough public argument for it, written by lawyers and others who understand the legal system and examined the cases. I'm open to reading such a thing. I doubt it would ever be released, since Trump's own legal experts (JD Vance and Pam Bondi) were claiming he wouldn't release violent offenders and using phrases like "case-by-case basis", right up until Trump pardoned/commuted every single one with no rationalization beyond saying it was unjust and long enough. Trump doesn't give a shit about the nuances of the law, how bad their crimes were, or how much time they should serve, he just wants to be a king who punishes his enemies and rewards his supporters. To him, a single day in prison is too long for somebody that was loyal to him. The fact that almost all were pardons rather than commutations, seems to undercut your idea that they did commit crimes but deserve leniency. I'm not an expert, but my impression is that if Trump felt the same way as you put it, he would have commuted them, but not pardoned. Instead, he pardoned, because it is the bigger favor to his supporters and more absolutely rejects the idea of wrongdoing by him or them. If oversentencing was indeed the reason, I assume the current administration will also be this generous about any anti-Trump rioters who only, like, broke some windows, and threw some rocks or sandwiches or pepper-sprayed cops, even if anyone dies by accident. A few months in prison ought to be enough, then; it's only consistent. It's also strange that the party of fiscal responsibility, law and order, and accepting the consequences of one's actions, is just going to let Trump write off millions or more in property damages that taxpayers will now have to pay[1][2], instead of holding criminals accountable. It's almost like they have no principles at all, other than power and "owning the libs."
