I've also heard something similar. That maybe the reason so many are diagnosed today[0] is they were self-medicating via smoking. [0]: Which requires it to be affecting your life -- NOT that you actually do or don't have it and are dealing with it okay. Diagnostic criteria is that it must be hindering you in a job/school/relationships/etc.
