Whether you think that making an online safe space is crazy is beside the point.
Roblox markets its space for kids. Nobody is forcing them to do that. But if they chose to, then they should be held to at lest the same standard as if they were offering an in person experience targeted at children.
Slapping “buyer beware, there may be pedophiles” on every in-person experience is something society has deemed unacceptable and require a higher standard of care on the parts of institutions working with children. That should not magically go away just because the experience happens online.
- moi2388 1y agoIt should. You can’t keep your kid out off school, but keeping them off Roblox is incredibly easy; you just don’t pay for it. Should Roblox try to keep their space safe? Of course. But the parents are the ones letting them go unsupervised on Roblox. I don’t let my kids do that.
- dizlexic 1y agoI'm sorry but this false equivelency is insane. Online is not in person. The standards for in-person are higher for a very solid reason. Direct, physical access has an infinitely higher potential for abuse. Echoing another comment, ROBLOX should do their best, but the idea that it should be an equivalent standard is impractical and bizarre.
