Funny thing, norway is one of the worst western countries when it comes to trans healthcare. This of course ended up with undermining the future of Norwegian trans people. The world should wonder why the most successful trans people are american.
- simianparrot 1y agoThe world doesn’t wonder that. We look at the trans treatment in America as a warning. I know that probably sounds cruel to some Americans but we simply do not share your view in this.
- seethedeaduu 1y agoThe world doesn't wonder that because it doesn't care about trans people. But what I am saying is simply true.
- wizzwizz4 1y agoSome of the most successful everything are American: that's just a sign of rampant inequality. Most of the American trans people I know fear for their lives, and the Stichting Trans Rescue Foundation (a charity set up by former US citizens living in the Netherlands) does not have the resources to help them: see https://transrescue.org/post-election-assistance-to-the-usa https://transrescue.org/post-election-assistance-to-the-usa. The things you say were sort of true two years ago, and I'm confident you'll be able to make them true again, but it will be an uphill battle.
- seethedeaduu 1y agoI am referring to the practices of informed consent, starting transition early, etc specifically.
- wizzwizz4 1y agoYeah, among populations who have access to that level of care, study after study shows good outcomes (e.g. https://www.srcd.org/sites/default/files/resources/SRCD%20SOTE-Gender%20Affirming%20Policies%202022.pdf https://www.srcd.org/sites/default/files/resources/SRCD%20SO...) – just as theory would predict.
