Every time I read some statement like "You don’t install software anymore; you ask for it", it's not some typical non-technical office worker making the claims who is actually using the technology in this way. And when I check who is making the claim, it' always some foaming-at-the-mouth tech founder shilling their AI/No-Code platform who is about to run out of money.
Every. Time.
- random3 1y agoI’m sorry— do you have something to say about his ideas or is it all ad hominem?
- siva7 1y agoWell, their point has much more substance than your "this is ad hominem" slur since the blog author didn't disclose that his opinion piece is directly tied to the business model of his startup (and therefore wants to sell you the solution so they are clearly biased). Some people may therefore feel deceived.
- random3 1y ago> blog author didn't disclose that his opinion piece is directly tied to the business model of his startup You mean other than stating in the "About" section of his *blog*? You seem to be confusing blogging "standards" with conflict of interest disclosures for research publications and see a problem with founders being subjective by actually having an overlap in their beliefs and their companies.
- borzi 1y agoWhat I'm saying about the "ideas" is that they are entirely based on a delusion which is stated as a fact, but only because the author has a strong incentive to believe the delusion.
- random3 1y agoSo he's delusional because he thinks users may be inclined to not pay for SaaS products when they can solve their need by asking an AI for close to free?

- RaftPeople 1y agoIn the 1990's there was a journalist with a column in something like InfoWorld or ComputerWorld and she wrote an article about how software is becoming so easy to create that the biggest sin will be not throwing it way quick enough. Sounds like either history is repeating itself or she was about 30 years early with her prediction.
- quonn 1y agoThere was this BusinessWeek cover about OOP, almost 35 years ago: https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!diR3!,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fbucketeer-e05bbc84-baa3-437e-9518-adb32be77984.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F58a90c5a-ce41-4055-a3ec-b01aaaefb1fe_2740x3666.jpeg https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!diR3!,f_auto,q_auto:...
