IMHO, you and the parent are probably both missing the point of the submitted article. The points being that (1) contrary to what people are saying, this is not a triumph of the "free markets", and (2) more importantly, fiber in general may be unviable without govt. subsidies. I thought that was newsworthy. YMMV.
