Just how much has DOGE exaggerated its numbers? Now we have receipts
- alistairSH 1y agoUnsurprising. Saving money/deficit reduction was never the primary goal.
- Neil44 1y ago[flagged]
- Finnucane 1y agoIf you think they're wrong, please show us how.

- bediger4000 1y agoWhy do you say Politico is left wing and anti-trump? My reading of then was "mildly conservative biased". I think you are correct in noting that "anti-trump" is not necessarily left or right wing.
- technothrasher 1y agoMediabiasfactcheck and Allsides have them at left-center.
- lcnPylGDnU4H9OF 1y agoIf they're from Europe then that tracks with the theory that Europe is far more left-leaning. America's center left is Europe's center right; America's center is Europe's right.
- ZeroGravitas 1y agoThe definitions are certainly a bit circular: > Politico used Lean Left language to describe Jan. 6: “damning findings,” “deadly riot,” “violent siege,” “threat to democracy,” “insurrection,” “Trump’s crusade.” > A category on the website was labeled “Insurrection Fallout," which is Lean Left framing of Jan. 6; a reviewer in the center noted a "heavy anti-Trump focus."
- selectodude 1y agoThey're literally owned by Axel Springer.
- mandeepj 1y ago> anti-trump So, no one should criticize him ever? Be like Claude - “You're absolutely right! about everything”? While almost always wrong about everything!!
- brookst 1y agoAh, the old “reality has a well-known liberal bias” trope. Thanks for reminding us. FWIW, Politico is also anti-cancer, anti-pollution, and anti-rape. Just more of their systemic bias I suppose. On the bright side, there are an increasing number of alternative “news” sources that that the opposite positions on those things.
- mexicocitinluez 1y ago> anti-trump You mean factual? Is that what you meant to say? I love that any news agency that doesn't explicitly carry water for this admin is considered "anti-Trump".
- arp242 1y ago> so they're going to be pretty un-generous with their analysis This does not follow at all. People really can be fair and dispassionate on topics they disagree with. I can, for example, write a "why you should use PHP" article even though I don't like PHP. I think the automatic assumption that people will be dishonest to fit their political leanings says more about your mindset than Politico. Or rather: alleged political leanings since it's not my impression that Politico is all that left-wing, but that's a secondary point.

- dcjones 1y agoPolitico is owned by right-wing billionaire Axel Springer, who enforces various conservative ideological stances at his publications and who in 2020 asked his staff (slightly tongue in cheek) to pray for a Trump reelection.
- alistairSH 1y agoUh, pretty sure Mr Springer passed away 40 years ago. His media empire retains his name, but it's CEO is Mathias Döpfner. But, you are correct that Axel Springer SE (the media company) has a right-wing slants, at least on some issues.
- kccoder 1y agoThey are slightly left wing and report accurately on Trump, which to many means they are anti-Trump. Those people should accept the reality of what Trump is, but sadly for the rest of us, they won't.
- Finnucane 1y agoBut the damage and destruction of valuable Federal services: priceless.
- Ylmaz 1y agoI built a simple tool to download all their data a few month ago (https://dogedownloadtool.pages.dev/ https://dogedownloadtool.pages.dev/). It uses their API and creates a CSV file for the user. It's interesting to do some data analysis with it.
- headinsand 1y agoSo we should finally start seeing legal repercussions for all involved, and a great undoing of everything they’ve done?
- Yizahi 1y agoLegal repercussions for all involved lowest rank technical staff and a great worsening of all they have done and even more. Just like it happens after every other govt blunder :)
- meheleventyone 1y agoTo be fair it's not like the script is any different outside of government either.
- headinsand 1y agoI think it is insincere to call what doge and its employees did a “blunder”. Their actions were intentional and malicious. That’s like calling deciding to deny a same sex couple a marriage certificate a bureaucratic “blunder“ when it is in fact a targeted act using your position to supplant existing law to malign others based on your own interests.
- Yizahi 1y agoBad choice of a word, my bad.
- k310 1y agoIMO, DOGE's main goal and legacy was/is to grab government agency code and plant trojans. When the time is "right", seize it all. We are just about there. We have secret police, concentration camps, and now, federal occupation of a city. Does anyone see a pattern?
