Putting a tax on it does nothing; the Chinese companies aren't the ones paying the tax anyway. It shows that the US isn't really serious about maintaining a lead in these advanced technologies; all Trump knows how to do is extort money through various threats--tarrifs, law suits, export bans etc. To his credit he's good at that. Would make a great mobster.
