It's very tempting to try to reason things through from first principles. I do it myself, a lot. It's one of the draws of libertarianism, which I've been drawn to for a long time.
But the world is way more complex than the models we used to derive those "first principles".
- BobaFloutist 1y agoIt's also very fun and satisfying. But it should be limited to an intellectual exercise at best, and more likely a silly game. Because there's no true first principle, you always have to make some assumption along the way.
