I am not rich my any means. In today's definition of classes I guess I'm somewhere middle class with a chance of making it to upper middle class by the time I reach retirement age.
But, I grew up very poor (shoes with holes in them going to school type of poor) and that motivated me to do more, learn more and hopefully achieve more than my predecessors.
And for this reason I abhor all the "only the reach get richer and other's people misery is all their fault" mantra.
- exe34 1y agoLet me guess, you did it all by yourself - you worked nights to pay for your school when you were seven. You grew your own wheat and baked your own bread.
- ExoticPearTree 1y agoI still grow my own wheat and bake my own bread. Farm my own vegetables, raise chicken... the works. No, I took every opportunity to learn new skills and advance in life. You can mock me all you want, it is not going to change my opinion that you be poor if you chose to be poor.
- exe34 1y agoYes, the single mother working three jobs in America who still can't afford healthcare for her children chooses to be poor. It's like success gets to your head and pride takes the place of empathy.
- ExoticPearTree 1y agoI am very tired of people just complaining and blaming everyone else for their situation.
- exe34 1y agoMy situation is pretty good thank you! But unlike you, I have empathy. I want us all to contribute to a society that helps out those who need it.
- ExoticPearTree 1y agoGo donate to worthy causes, help your neighbors out and the like. Who is stopping you? But don't come here on a high horse claiming that everyone should have the same inclination like you.
- exe34 1y agono, I get it, you don't have empathy. it's not a flex.
