Eggs are off the hook–study reveals bacon's the real heart risk
- bamboozled 1y agoIn 5 years: “Bacon isn’t the villain it’s made out to be, it’s eggs”
- Qem 1y agoNowadays the villain is milk. Lots of influencers disparaging it. "No animal besides humans drink milk as adults, it must be wrecking your health!" they say. This is dumb. No animals besides humans cook food and chlorinate water. What am I supposed to do? Eat raw eggs and drink contaminated water?
- darth_avocado 1y agoCholera is completely natural and organic
- steve_adams_86 1y agoCholera is my favourite part of the paleo diet.
- m463 1y ago> Prevention methods against cholera include improved sanitation and access to clean water. strangely the prevention is non-organic. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cholera https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cholera
- zaphirplane 1y agoWhat’s dumb is taking advice from influencers who are incentivised to generate content and viral type content

- jerlam 1y agoArticle from... 1999! So we should have gone through five cycles of blaming and praising eggs by now.

- _mlbt 1y agoI don’t care, there is nothing that will ever get me to give up bacon. I’d rather die an early death.
- exabrial 1y agoEverything in moderation and you’ll live a long happy life, rather than a miserable life without bacon.
- createaccount99 1y ago"Moderation" for bacon being zero
- exabrial 1y agoLiterally millions of datapoints proving otherwise, but sure if believing that makes you happy go live life how you wish, nobody is stopping you.
- amanaplanacanal 1y agoHaven't we known for years that dietary cholesterol isn't responsible for blood cholesterol? What is actually new here?
- steve_adams_86 1y agoNothing is new other than some data that can contribute to meta analyses on isolating the effects of saturated fat and dietary cholesterol, from what I can tell. There isn't anything particularly compelling here. Eggs have anywhere from 1.25–2g of saturated fat each. The bacon is what, 2.5–4g of saturated fat per slice? I may be slightly off. Regardless, we know saturated fat reduces endogenous cholesterol regulation, and leads to increased blood cholesterol levels. Eggs aren't off the hook because they still contain saturated fat. There are also people who are 'hyper-responders' to dietary cholesterol, and their endogenous cholesterol regulation is further reduced by dietary cholesterol. So, these people really do need to be careful when including eggs in their diet. It's not even that small of a cohort of the population, as I recall. Caveat: I don't know anything about this stuff
- Igrom 1y agoWe have always been at war with bacon.
