I don't get it. Isn't it like forcing the foreign competitor into buying your only chicken that produces golden eggs. I really don't understand the logic behind this.
- msgilligan 1y agoWell, to be fair, Intel stopped laying golden eggs years ago.
- spangry 1y agoJust spitballing - maybe if TSMC had a 49% stake in Intel they'd be incentivised to transfer their chip-making technologies and techniques to Intel, to maximise the value of their (forced) investment?
- msgilligan 1y agoGood point. They'd get whatever profit they make from the sale of tech to Intel, plus half of whatever benefit Intel receives.
