Why slashes instead of dots? Wouldn't the key paths make much more sense as "foo.bar.bat".

- ansgri 14y agoYes, and with dots it would be less obvious that people are reinventing the whole XML ecosystem. Someone should design a meta-language (probably based on s-expressions) that would easily represent all Object Notations and Markup Languages and an XPath/XSLT meta-equivalent to rule 'em all.
- ufo 14y agoAs always, there is a relevant XKCD: http://xkcd.com/927/ http://xkcd.com/927/
- regularfry 14y agoI'm guessing that dots are marginally more likely to occur as keys, so they'd need to be escaped more often.
- olalonde 14y agoSlashes are pretty common to describe paths (URLs, file systems, XML, etc.)
