Firefox (Mozilla) could be sued by youtube if they allow this. But yt-dlp is open-source code, maintained by a loose group of contributors around the world, hosted on GitHub. No central office, no paid service, no ad revenue. If GitHub takes it down (due to a DMCA request), someone will re-upload it in hours. This decentralization makes lawsuits costly and potentially ineffective.
