Texas AI data centers use 463M gallons, residents asked to cut back on showers
- nerdsniper 1y agoI can’t find any recent communications asking residents to cut back on showers. However, it is true in the sense that Abilene chronically suffers from low water supplies, as discussed at the Federal Reserve here: https://www.dallasfed.org/research/swe/2025/swe2506 https://www.dallasfed.org/research/swe/2025/swe2506 There are some evergreen informational pages at abilenetx.gov talking about “How YOU can reduce our water consumption!” but it looks like those have been up for a long time and are very general in nature. Abilene does have approximately permanent water restrictions in place regarding watering lawns, viewable here: https://abilenetx.gov/598/Save-Abilene-Water https://abilenetx.gov/598/Save-Abilene-Water
