>It occurs to me that this is Trump's way of trying to get back to "the good old days" when the Federal Government was almost entirely funded by tariffs (aka import taxes/duties). That’s exactly it, he wants to eliminate income taxes. In particular his own taxes. Everyone else is along for the ride. Because tariffs won’t be enough, he needs to cut the federal budget in ways that don’t affect him personally.
