I really want to spend some time at the Recurse Center, but the opportunity cost feels so high
- betterhealth12 1y agoright now, the opportunity cost is probably as high as it's ever been (unrelated, but same also applies to people considering business school etc). What got you looking into it?
- foota 1y agoWhoops I missed following up here. It's been on my mind for a few years, after seeing someone talk about it (probably here or linked from here). Maybe from Julia Evans?
- zoky 1y agoThe problem is that in order to spend time at the Recurse Center, you first have to spend time at the Recurse Center.
- maxverse 1y agoWhat do you mean?
- lazyasciiart 1y agoIt’s a joke about recursion.
- pyb 1y agoIn what sense?
- fragmede 1y agoIn the sense that you have to take a month off the rest of your life to go there. What about my job and my friends and my family and my house? Those don't stop existing and happening, and leaving them for a month is too difficult for people who just aren't committed enough. It's a decent filter/gatekeep for "who actually cares enough to do this?"
