I think the files have to be somewhere, just not on the desktop. Maybe root folder or, is it possible to make a folder named ".."? The first step called "move" and the subsequent "read" showed no files, only folders, left in the original directory. I can't imagine any way that "move" turns into a delete command. Maybe possible, but seems unlikely. I'd keep looking for them.
