Almost 10 years ago (damn...) I reverse engineered my air conditioner IR protocol and wrote a lengthy article about it. That being said, I was new to electronics and was doing it all on a raspberry pi instead of something embedded. Since then I've also made an ESP32 version, and many others have as well.
