Now I'm curious whether or not this is true. I'm much more likely to be killed or assaulted by friends or family than by a random person, and if I'm being killed by someone, the most likely killer by far is also the person they killed, even in the US. Further, while I know people who were shot in their car, I know nobody who was shot on a bus (I don't know anyone involved in knife violence in any capacity).
