What checks and balances? The US Supreme Court has become highly partisan, where all justices vote along party lines of their appointing president mostly. US Congress is even less independent and has to kowtow to the leader or else get primaried. The founding fathers obviously had no chance to envision everything and it is unlikely their Constitution will forever good enough to protect against such side channel attacks.
- jerlam 1y agoI think the comment you replied to was sarcasm. It is kind of amazing how quickly the US political system started showing faults. For example, the first President warned about the rise of political parties at their farewell address, yet every single following President has been a member of one.
