Yeah, anyone who wants Europe to move away from Our Holy American Benefactors, are, uh, uhhh, yeah, russian plants!
- asdff 1y agoOne of these days Europeans will realize they are also part of the American empire just in a bit of a dominion status. If you host an American military installation, you are part of the empire with a fig leaf of domestic policy control that keep the bulk of the populace from realizing this. Take a look at a map of American military installations. The sun never sets on this latest roman empire.
- liotier 1y agoIt took Trump for the Europeans to realize that De Gaulle was right. The consequences of the European Union realizing the were the USA's protectorate are not going to please the USA though... Buy ITAR-free, buy European !
- asdff 1y agoI still don't think all this talk with trump and ukraine represents any meaningful retreat from american influence. It isn't like military bases are closing. Whoever is in power in a given US allied state very much wants to preserve the status quo that saw them seated in the position of power, aligned with the largest and most comprehensive military on the planet.
- exo762 1y agoEmpire has an idiot at the helm. As a Pole, I enjoyed pax americana a lot, I regret deeply its decline, and I blame not just MAGA, but both parties. But no matter what is the reason, you guys are not worth the trust anymore. Europe is re-militarizing.
- asdff 1y agoWell, they are remilitarizing by buying lockheed and raytheon products. I don't think they will ever bite the hand that arms them.
- liotier 1y agoWe are slow to wake up, but the hectic mood in the French arms industry is unprecedented and buying American is nowadays considered a stopgap - temporary evil. Also, European defense firms are getting more competitive, by the simple virtue of larger orders enabling more investment.
