Well, rare disease certainly gets people to pilot the tech. I'm certainly not going to try some ultra-experimental gene therapy to be immune to the common cold or fix my allergies, I don't know what the side effects might be. But if I was staring down some awful rare disease, then sure, let's roll the dice.
