It's not as if individuals are the only ones who bear the consequences though- huge companies sue each other all the time over copyright.
I guess it's a function of the legal system at all levels that money buys you more access to justice- not sure if that's a copyright issue specifically.
- snickerdoodle12 1y agoThe consequences are not at all proportional. Individuals get their lives ruined, some even driven to suicide. Often they're not even profiting, at least not directly. Companies shield the executives and workers breaking the law (and profiting from it!) and barely get fined, if at all. Often they're just told to cease & desist.
