- rafram 1y agoThe uploads do not appear to be filtered by a human. The AI was pretty easy to persuade.

- dylan604 1y agowhy, it just helps with the training data the more images they get so why limit it? plus, dupes are like the cops asking the same question multiple times to see if the results change

- shanedrgn 1y agoTo be fair to the site, anyone can upload and it looks like those AI photos are recent submissions (may even be a HN user). If you scroll just 3 rows down it's all dumb fluffballs

- iqfareez 1y agoNeed more filtering when uploads. Otherwise, peoples are going to start uploading po*ns.
- perdomon 1y agoThere's an AI system checking for cat content in the submissions. I assume it's told not to accept lewd photos, but who knows.

- stickfigure 1y agoI feel like our AI overlords could come up with captions that are less pablum. Need to turn up the edgy dial or something. The cheezburger internet cat phenomenon wasn't just pictures of cats, there was real humor. I'm still chuckling about that "roast user based on their HN profile and comment history" bot. I know it works.

- pickles1337 1y agoHi, author here! This project was intended for just friends and family so the implementation was quite naive (obviously...lol). The project is just using OpenAI's omni-moderation-latest model for content moderation, and a simple prompt for cat detection using gpt-4o-mini. Thanks to everyone who shared pics of their cats <3

- BogZMaszyny 1y agoGreat idea, love it. Moderation is good, indeed it's very hard to upload anything other than a cat picture. Descriptions are also on point. One suggestion: Please fix the voting system, at first I was excited how well my cat does but turns out it's stupidly easy to cheat and for me - it defeats the purpose. Also, I would love a leaderboard of the best cat pictures out there.
- pickles1337 1y agoThanks for the feedback and for posting your cat! <3 There were a few reasons I implemented the likes the way I did. Partially because the implementation is simpler, but also because I wanted to avoid any sort of competitive nature that social media tends to have. The button was originally intended to just be there to spam for fun and to make the app more interactive. I also never expected more than like 5 people to ever see this app so I wasn’t really thinking in terms of how it would scale to more users haha. I definitely see your point and will keep your ideas in mind for future iterations! Thanks again :)
