I’ve seen so many very smart people disagree on what degree the West can use Huawei. The consensus seems: it’s fine for dumb tech; it’s ok for middle-intelligence tech, provided the tech is cleared by loyal, competent people; but it’s foolish for anything smart. So it’s ok to use Huawei provided you security services are loyal, competent, and have the capacity to prevent its use. So using Huawei tech requires western countries to look inwards, and honestly assess themselves. That terrifies me.
