The level of disagreement and misunderstanding surrounding C++, its typing and implementation is a sign that the language and its community openly welcome extraneous cognitive load. Or its a sign of my own confirmation bias or both (or neither). Other languages have their quirks as well, but C++ stands out for me. I haven't done a study--perhaps there are studies on this, so my opinion amounts to so much line noise.
