Turkey would be a powerful democracy were it not for the Turkish electorate!
- wkat4242 1y agoIt's an interesting paradox. Not just in Turkey but in other places too (even the US comes to mind which is also becoming more autocratic). What if citizens of a democratic country vote to make it less democratic? Is it still a democracy?
- ben_w 1y agoCountries can be less or more democratic, it's not a simple boolean. But if it was a simple boolean, then no, voting to cease being a democracy means you are in fact (either way) no longer a democracy. The opposite result would be a paradox.
