Tesla board is learning this news at the same time than anybody else - from Elon's tweet. They have approximately 1 day to do any due diligence necessary for what looks like a massive transaction between a public company that is part of S&P 500 and a private company, who's CEO happen to be the same person. I know that we are living in an age when law doesn't mean anything anymore, at least in the US, but for younger folks here - people used to go to jail for such things.
