Over 10 years ago we were buying a lot of camping equipment. We had purchased some items from Amazon which looked good visually and they were from one of these mashing-on-the-keyboard brands like "kjhghjdfh". When we received the items they were of AMAZING quality. I wanted to purchase more items from this brand but of course, they were gone.
Strong brands are good for the consumer.

- ahartmetz 1y agoMy Nwouiiay car battery charger / regenerator is pretty good, but how careless can you be about choosing a name?
- ndiddy 1y agoThe only reason why all those gibberish brands exist is that Amazon gives better placement and seller tools to sellers who have a registered trademark. Since the sellers don't care about what the trademark is, they just want to sell on Amazon, making up some nonsense by smashing letters or phonemes together lets them speed up the registration since they won't have to deal with people saying it's too similar to their trademarks. If Amazon didn't have that policy, your Nwouiiay car battery charger simply wouldn't have any brand name printed on it.
- ahartmetz 1y agoAh, right. I wonder if that does anything for Amazon or if it just seemed like a good idea and the time and now nobody there cares enough to revise the policy.
- markus_zhang 1y agoA lot of Chinese manufacturers do not really have a fat profit margin (most goes to the distribution), so they tend to just get by and close shop when time is bad. Many of the smaller manufacturers simply do not have the mind to build a brand. The bigger ones are doing that though.
- DiogenesKynikos 1y agoA lot of those "mashing-the-keyboard" names come from a company with a Chinese name translating their name into English using the first letter of each Chinese character.
