Like others, I don't find that nonsense word particularly enlightening. But maybe compare '-ough' in: cough, tough, dough, through, plough.

Like others, I don't find that nonsense word particularly enlightening.
But maybe compare '-ough' in: cough, tough, dough, through, plough.

- tanjtanjtanj 1y agoThe -Ough in enough and tough and in borough and dough are pronounced the same, at least in any accent I can think of.
- jameshart 1y agoOkay, enough=tough, they did have that one - not sure why I missed it. But ‘borough’ in British English doesn’t rhyme with dough. The ‘-ough’ is a schwa.
