Well an analogy would be like learning a second language… In order, my ability to understand Spanish (ie I am close to B1 proficiency) 1. Reading Spanish 2. Typing Spanish (with autocorrect) 3. Speaking Spanish 4. Understanding spoken Spanish at normal speed (horrible at it). Just because (the royal) you can read the code that ChatGPT creates, doesn’t mean that you can write the code (#2), talk intelligently about the code (#3) or understand the concepts when used in a large codebase (#4).
