When one party controls all three branches of government, and the executive branch does what they want regardless of laws (which aren't enforced because said party controls the enforcers as well), you get anything but a consensus.
- diggan 1y agoSo then you're saying the US stopped being a representative democracy, because one party controls three branches of government? If it still is considered a representative democracy, then the bill is actually passed with some sort of democratic consensus, even though you (the voter) might not agree with the results. Besides, even if "one party controls all three branches of government" is true, they still don't control all the involved committees, do they?
- baggachipz 1y agoMore so that the executive branch does what it wants regardless of laws, and the other two branches which are supposed to serve as a check on absolute power refuse to do anything. They also control whatever committees they want. See: DOGE.
- diggan 1y agoThen you're effectively saying that democracy is dead in the US?
