Destroying Iran's nuclear enrichment facilities was never the real goal, it's just a convenient casus belli (the same as WMDs in Iraq). Ted Cruz openly stated in an interview last week that the goal is regime change in Iran.
The goal with these preliminary strikes is to get Iran to retaliate, and use that as justification for further escalation.
- garyfirestorm 1y agoI’d argue the initial strikes was a cover to exfiltrate the scientists and understand how far along they were and get intelligence about locations of the fissile material and target it.

- birn559 1y agoFor Israel, the strategic goal has always been to stop the endangering of Israel and their citizen by Iran.
