Enshittification is an amazing thing.
That's the great thing about open source. Apple's moves here will pay off in the short term but over the long term this kind of behaviour can only drive away more people.
- gumby271 1y agoThat was kind of their whole bet with rebranding vendor lock-in as an "Ecosystem" right? Get people to buy in and make it painful to leave, even when they become shitty.
- protimewaster 1y agoI think that's everybody's plan with lock-in. I doubt any management has ever seriously thought, "We need to lock people in, because we're going to always be the best." On another note, it surprises me that many on HN seem to be pro lock-in.
