Show HN: A touch sensor you can 3D print in any shape and size
We just released a touch sensor that you can make at home with just a 3D printer, some magnets and hall effect sensors!
Would love to hear the community's questions, thoughts and comments.
- nighthawk454 1y agoWow this looks really great! Looks very cheap and accessible. Is there any minimum material thickness, beyond the height of the board plus magnets? I’m also curious - can the modeling estimate the deformation of the eFlesh or does it just detect a 2d ‘pressure’ field? Not sure why it would be needed, but Also, do custom geometries require training a new network? Thanks!
- raunaqmb 1y agoThat's a great question! You probably need 2x the thickness of the magnets just so there's some amount of deformation possible. Could you clarify which modeling you are talking about for the deformation estimation? Custom geometries will require a new network, yes!
- nighthawk454 1y agoGot it, makes sense! For the deformation, I mean would there be enough information to determine how a mesh of the eFlesh would be deformed, to cause the observed magnetic readings
