Hey man, I agree with you. I mean, I used that customized version of bootstrap (that lead me to write this article) to skin an app I was working on and I still hear praises on how awesome it is and how much better it looks than their prior software. I just feel like that extra nudge of color customization, the new icons and so on could make it shine even more. And honestly, I think just about every dev out there would appreciate it too. I'm not saying spend half a day on it, keep it to 30 minutes max of playing around with it, that's it.
