YouTube might slow down your videos if you block ads
- chiph2o 1y agoI have been experiencing this for the last 2 days. Still preferring to block ads.

- _k2vp 1y agoThis is why I use invidious. Much more lightweight without all the tracking and Google bullshit. https://invidious.io https://invidious.io My instance https://iv.duti.dev https://iv.duti.dev
- msgodel 1y agoOh no I might have to spool them instead and not be influenced by the cybernetics either. What a tragedy. Maybe they'll figure out how to block yt-dlp and I'll have to watch the few valuable math videos from their creators sites. I don't know how I'll live then.
- potholereseller 1y agoEverytime news like this comes up, I'm never affected. I'm using uBlock Origin. Is there something unique about uBlock Origin? Are other adblockers easily noticed by YouTube? TFA mentions complaints from users of Brave browser, which appears to use it's own bespoke ad-blocker [0]. It includes some filters from uBlock Origin [1], but these files are six years old. Are those filters updated at runtime (e.g. from [2], [3], [4], [5])? If so, then why include old filters in the repo? Surely, Brave isn't using six year old filters.
