It was the case when my wife was diagnosed with MS 17 years ago. There was no "test for MS", just a statistical answer "it looks like this is MS because of some symptoms, some non-conclusive reults and how the MRI look like". We just took it for good money ans she is treated since with reasonable results. But it may be something else. I wonder if there are better tests today.
