New EV charging feature could make apps and cards obsolete

- Shekelphile 1y agoThis is ridiculous and unnecessary. I can always pay cash or swipe a card at a gas pump, why not the same at an EV charger? This is something that doesn't need to be changed.
- cebert 1y agoI agree. I’d much rather use a credit card reader and/or Apple/Google Pay.
- toomuchtodo 1y agoI prefer plugging my EV in and having my card on file charged automatically when the charging session completes. Only applies when traveling and using fast DC/Superchargers, as most of the time I charge at free home/residential or public level 2 chargers. This is similar to how my toll transponder operates: depletes balance, dings card on file when drops below a certain balance. Can be used for tolls, parking lot payments, etc.
- sherdil2022 1y agoIsn’t “pull up and plug-in” what Tesla chargers already provide for Teslas? How is this any different?
- beardyw 1y agoSeems a reasonable idea, though couching it in "what could possibly go wrong" language ignores reality.
